DERBI Story
All started with a seed of thought, subsequent small steps and a bold decision of establishing Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) for Dayananda Sagar Institutions (DSI) to nurture and promote entrepreneurship among the students and faculty of DSI back in 2009.
The tremendous response by the students, plethora of activities and extensive interaction with communities led to creating an ecosystem conducive to supporting the Startups and Innovators beyond DSI. Additionally, with the financial and other support by NSTEDB, the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India led to the creation of the DERBI Foundation in 2015 with an aim to Fuel Dreams of Innovators, Entrepreneurs and Startups to gather PACE, GALLOP Business and EMERGE successfully through our pre-incubation, incubation, and acceleration programs.

Innovators and entrepreneurs of very early-stage budding startups need a structured yet flexible program, mentorship, and necessary support to give their ideas a wing.
Inspiration is the spark needed to come up with a disruptive idea. Seeking that inspiration needs time, creative mind space, travelling, interacting with communities, and experiencing the pain oneself.
Developing Smart products, especially with electronics and intelligence being in the centre, requires inter-disciplinary efforts and a lot of support.

Our Startups Speak
Derbi is making a lot of effort to help startups move ahead. Unlike many other programs, they are more hands-on in their approach. Derbi has partnered with professional organizations that provide great insights on product and business sides. They also put a lot of effort to bring in the best people available to help the startups. Lastly, they take feedback (however trivial) seriously and make an effort to improve on it.
The accelerator program EMERGE 2020 by DERBI FOUNDATION is a game-changer; it provided last-minute course corrections, funding support and, the biggest of all, business opportunities in the South of India, which was not even in our initial expansion radar.
PACE was a great 3-month program for early-stage start-ups like ours. It helped us in structuring our thoughts and getting better clarity on our business model.
“YES! DERBI Foundation so far made a significant contribution to the remarkable progress of SOUJHE in just a few months. DERBI helped us develop industry connections, which in turn expedited the customer onboarding process. In-house mentors guided me to come up with a suitable business as well as a commercialization plan. Received early-stage funding. Got access to a very strong network to grow at must faster pace”
Program to accelerate the creation of entrepreneurs was an exceptionally well-tailored course to suit the needs of a startup. The mentors were highly knowledgeable and had an engaging approach. During three months, What I gained was efficiency, organization, clarity of concepts and above all, a lot of less stress. The course content met my expectations to improve my capability in a very competitive marketplace. I would recommend this program to every startup. Thanks to DERBI and Wadhwani foundation for coming up with this truly beneficial concept of showing us the roadmap to entrepreneurial success.
Carbon hubs was mainly started due to the pollution problem of India, and unlike other technology, carbon hubs has a unique way to reduce pollution along with particular matter, and DERBI pace problem has helped me to network with industrial mentors and helped me gain knowledge of the market
DERBI’s PACE has helped EdubioSkills refine its Digital presence and Online sales/marketing. The program helped us refine the go-to-market strategy for the existing range of products based on a customer-centric approach.
I recommend the PACE program for early-stage startups in the Education & Healthcare sector.
The object of our Startup is to offer Last Mile Healthcare Solution. We are trying to address the gap in quality healthcare in rural & semi-urban India. We aim to establish a Health Kiosk to connect the Urban healthcare ecosystem. The PACE Program in DERBI Foundation was a fantastic journey for us. The guidance & learning will help us in our Startup journey.
I am Sachin Dubey, the CEO of Module Innovations. I was selected for the DERBI, EMERGE program. EMERGE is one of the most exciting programs attended due to its design and invited speakers. The customized approach was new and not found in many other programs that I have attended
This is an excellent program, and it gives a 360-degree perspective about various aspects of a startup from problem definition, business models, IP, and Go to market. The commitment shown by the ‘DERBI Team’ is great.
Helped me a lot in introspection and improvisation. I would recommend all entrepreneurs participate.
We came up with a startup idea for the PACE program by the DERBI foundation. The PACE program helped us build an effective business model and learnt about different aspects of starting up through renowned mentors from the industry and PACE actually gave us the PACE we needed for our startup.
Being selected by DERBI for incubation has been the best thing that has happened to HeartHealth Technologies since its inception in 2019. The HealthTech focus has given us exposure to Customers, Partners and Investors – from India and Globe. The mentorship has led to a refinement in our Product strategy and Go-To-Market plans and subsequent validation by Tier-1 Customers and Investors.
Thank You, Team DERBI, for guiding us through the early stages and setting us well on the way to success in a competitive market!
The PACE program, an initiative from DERBI Foundation, has been a great experience for us. The program scheduled in phases over 3 months was very useful, as it helped us revisit our basics at every phase and re-look at some of the assumptions. The best part of the program is the opportunity to interact and learn from the mentors, some of the best minds in the industry. Active engagement and constant feedback from Natarajan Sir and team have been very valuable for us.
It has been an amazing journey getting associated with Derbi and the team. As a startup, we encounter many difficulties; It makes it so much easier when you get strong people backing you. Monetary is another thing, Connects, Strategy, Team. Derbi makes sure someone is there in helping its startups.
I have seen multiple startups gain from the experience and infra support of the DERBI team. They are an extended arm of your company during its early stage.
Deep tech products require a lot of research. However, commercializing research is tough as enterprises today are not very research-oriented, or startups cannot make an enterprise-ready product without research. Being a part of Derbi helped us bridge the gap between product research and productization due to the availability of mentors, academic experts and business experts on the same platform. It is a very rare mix in industry, and Derbi truly has brought the two biggest aspects of the success of a deep tech product. We also benefited from the government connections, monthly mentoring meetings, access to talent, workspace and lots more.
