EMERGE – Three days intensive mentoring programs for late-stage healthcare startups by DERBI Foundation
DERBI Foundation is a non-profit section 8 organization supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and hosted by Dayananda Sagar Institutions (DSI). The mission of the DERBI foundation is to form a strong healthcare ecosystem in India by aiding and abetting diverse healthcare startups through pre-incubation, incubation and acceleration programs.
In December 2019, DERBI Foundation launched its first-ever healthcare accelerator program, EMERGE.
EMERGE is a four-months program aimed at supporting and scaling the late-stage startups in the healthcare industry. EMERGE offers seed funding, provides unparalleled access to the venture and business networks, and offers personalized and intensive mentoring. The program also aims at assisting the startups to enter the market ferociously with a strategic plan of action.
To mark the beginning of EMERGE, DERBI Foundation conducted a three days event in Bangalore, in association with Sagar Hospitals, InnAccel and Frost and Sullivan. The objective of the program was to provide a deeper immersion workshop for startups on their business and technology side. The program also shed light on many of the topics including need and revalidation, clinical workflow, risk assessment and management, Business model, curating market research data via Frost & Sullivan database, cash flow and care flow, with live case studies and hands-on experience. Over 04 hospitals, 06 investors (Manipal Hospital, Rainbow Hospital, IDG ventures, Social alpha, Vilgro, Speciale, Ivy camp, Philips, BPL, 3M healthcare, Microsoft, GE etc.,) 04 corporates and 15+ healthcare partners, 09 mentors and 10 enthusiastic startups participated in the event. The event emphasised providing an opportunity for the entrepreneurs to have one-on-one interaction with the investors and other stakeholders of the healthcare ecosystem, in a speed dating format.
